Welcome to the Levin Lab!

We are a multidisciplinary research group at the University of British Columbia, working at the intersection of geometry, soft matter, and materials science. We design, fabricate, and model programmable materials that autonomously change shape in response to their environment, drawing inspiration from the geometric principles underlying shape change in living systems.

Our work combines experiments, theory, and numerics, and spans problems from the mathematical foundations of elasticity to the fabrication of soft robotic devices. We are always looking for curious, motivated people to join us!
